Decommission Abandoned Water Well Services

Decommissioned abandoned water wells preserve our groundwater for future generations is very important! Old, unused wells must be properly abandoned by a professional! Why? The short answer is that when a well is left unused it becomes stagnant and bacteria begins to grow. The aquifer that was providing drinking water will now be in contact with this bacteria or other elements that may have entered the water well and can begin to contaminate that aquifer. Once this contamination has entered a formation it can spread to other wells in the area. Potentially, this can ruin ground aquifers forever. Generally speaking, abandoning wells is not an expensive project, but the benefits are great!

Stone River Waterwells Ltd. abandons wells based on well design and construction. The most common method is to remove old pumping equipment that may still be in the well. We then completely disinfect the well bore and casing, followed by pumping a grout mixture from the bottom of the well to the surface, and then sealing it off with bentonite chips. The Well casing will then be cut off below ground and backfilled.
